LIBRARY

The Library was established in 1993. The constituent Library is going to be shifted to new building which is central location in the College campus. College Library is a hub of academic activities. Students and staff of the college are the primary beneficiaries of the wealth of information available in the library. It has a large and rich collection of learning resources on different disciplines in Arts, Science, Commerce and Management subjects. It acts as a nerve centre catering to the academic needs of students and the faculty of undergraduate and post graduate departments.

Vision:

The Library vision is creating dynamic learning environment in the College campus. It responds to the physical and virtual spaces with changing habits of its users. The Library ensures the awareness of the resources available to the users. Technology and innovations make easier to access library resources.

Mission:

The Library mission is to provide comprehensive resources and services to the teaching and learning needs of the students and faculties in the College. To fulfill this mission, the Library commits to:

  • Understand the teaching, and learning needs of its users.
  • Build collections and create tools to support teaching and learning.
  • Ensure the preservation and long-lasting availability of Library collections and resources.
  • Collaborate with other members of the University to enrich the learning community.
  • Develop, encourage, and sustain expertise, skill, commitment and an innovative spirit in its staff.

LIBRARY PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING SERVICES AND FACILITIES

  1. Reprographic Service: – Xerox / Photocopying service is made available in the Library.
  2. Reference Service: -Library Professionals are pleased to help the users in locating and disseminating information from the available sources in the Library. Special Reference Books for Competitive Exams(CSIR/UGC/NET/SLET,IAS,KAS, Banking, Railways & other exams)
  3. Internet Service: – Internet service is available for all categories of users of the Library.
  4. User Education/ Orientation Programme: is a part of the Dissemination of Information the Library. To inculcate reading habits among newly joined students and User Education Programs/Orientation programs are conducting yearly to introduce about the library collections, services and facilities of the library.
  5. Current awareness Service: – New books, Journals, Other information sources added to the Library will be intimated to the students and Teachers by display in the New Arrival Rack.
  6. E- Journals: – Library has subscribed to NLIST package of E-Journals available ‘on-line’ for the benefit of its users. Only the members of the Library can access these journals through LAN.
  7. CD’s available in the Library: – for the benefit of users of the Library.
  8. Project Reports- these can access in the library
  9. Old Question Paper: Available in the library
  10. Referral service : Directing the user the documents availability in the other institution

ICT Facilities:

  • Library is provided with 2 computers of latest version with DVD drive, compatible for web browsing and automation purpose.
  • Computer Configuration: Dual Core 1.8 Ghz, 1 GB Ram,320 MDD,Core 2 Duo 2.1 GHz, 2GB RAM, 320 MDD.
  • Library is provided LAN facility with Band width 1GB fibre Internet connectivity extensively used by the students, faculties and library staff.
  • Latest Version Ms Office 2007, Nudi, Mozilla, Internet Explorer installed.
  • Antivirus installed to secure computers from virus.
  • The Library details is provided in the Collge website :www. mesckm.org
  • Library is having Power back up facility table top ups with two batteries for standalone system.
  • Information display and notification: There is notice board out side the library to display circular, news clipping, career opportunities. etc.
  • Barcode printer is available for the purpose of Barcoding process.

The Library collection consists of Books (including text books, dictionaries, encyclopaedia, competitive books, and year books), Periodicals, Project Reports, CD Rom/DVDs, etc.

COMPUTERISATION OF LIBRARY

  • To bring in total library automation, library data is under computerization with the help of software Easylib software installed to automate in-house activities and services of the library.
  • Barcoding process is completed, in future all the activities are going to be computerized. E-RESOURCES: Membership with INFLIBNET-NLIST

Library Hours:

Monday to Friday 9 AM to 5 PM

Saturday 9 AM to 2 PM

Library remains closed on Sundays and Public holidays.

RULES:-

1. Students may borrow books from the library every week on the day and the time allotted for issuing books to their classes.

2. They may borrow two books at a time.

3. Borrowers shall not write, damage or mark in the books, manuscripts, maps, charts, Log tables and Lab manuals belonging to the Library.

4. If any book is damaged, the new book will be collected or double the cost of the book will be collected from the borrower.

5. Dictionaries, Grammar Books, Language Books and Encyclopedia are meant for reference only and will not be let.

6. Books must be returned a fortnight earlier to the commencement of annual examinations to get “ No Due Certificate” from the librarian.

7. Students will be entitled to get the admission ticket for the examination only on producing ‘No Dues Certificate ‘ from library, laboratory and sports section.
